Turbines locations and impacts.

Many factors including noise, visual impact, natural and cultural heritage, have been considered in preparation for the planning application. This work has been carried out by Origin and specialist consultants. We have looked at how we would connect the turbines to the local electricity grid and we will be able to use underground connections for the purpose.

A specialist noise consultant is engaged to look at ensuring that no-one would be disturbed due to turbine noise. This is ongoing work and Origin need to make sure that the turbines are placed at a suitable distance to prevent disturbance.

A map showing the location of the three possible alternatives can be found here and is reproduced below. You will see three turbines which we have labelled T1a, T2 and T2a. We are currently looking at heights of 80m to the top of the tower with 40m blades. Towers and blades can be shorter and longer but the amount of energy produced from different combinations differs significantly.





Only two will be chosen from these options. It is felt that this represents a good balance for the total energy use of the Parish.

Environmental Impact Studies

Detailed studies are being carried out on how the turbines will impact various aspects of the environment. We have already made preliminary studies which demonstrate that there are no insoluble problems but there is both a legal and an ethical requirement to gauge the impact of the proposal. The scope of this work has been given to us by DMBC after consultation with Natural England, English Heritage and other public bodies.
